Zoltán Lippényi receives LISS grant for "Evolving preferences at work and their implications for organizational segregation"

Congratulations to SCOOP Fellow Zoltán Lippényi and his collaborators for receiving a LISS panel grant for the project “Evolving preferences at work and their implications for organizational segregation.”

Awarded by ODISSEI, the project will look at how women and people with migrant backgrounds often work at different firms to men and people of Dutch origin. This segregation is typically attributed to employers’ preferences for hiring men and Dutch-origin candidates. However, workers themselves may also contribute to segregation by choosing jobs where colleagues or managers share (or differ from) their own demographic characteristics.

The research will examine how much the demographic profiles of colleagues and managers influence workers’ job preferences, and whether firms’ policies also play a role.
