New monograph by Frank Hindriks about creating free and open societies
Warm congratulations to Prof. Frank Hindriks on the recent publication of his monograph, The Structure of the Open Society: Social Ontology Meets Collective Ethics published by Oxford University Press (2026).
In a time when liberal ideals are under threat, Frank proposes a new conception of the free and open society. Frank’s latest book provides a fresh perspective on how societies should be promoting diversity and inclusion while at the same time fighting structural injustice. He does this by defending the ‘holist’ theory of society, asserting that social groups and institutions have their own realities that constrain the individuals who participate in them.
