Gerarda Westerhuis works as Senior Sector Economist at ABN AMRO Bank. Until December 2020 she worked at Utrecht University as assistant professor in business and economic history. Her research focuses in particular on corporate governance, CEOs and boards, entrepreneurship, elites and family business.
She combines theories and methodologies from social sciences applying the long term perspective of a historian. She makes use of large data sets, in-depth archival research, and interviews. She is also Board Member and chair of the Admissions Committee of the interdisciplinary bachelor program in Philosophy, Politics & Economics (PPE) at UU.
